What You Should Know
Land Degradation is Threatening our Wildlife
Deforestation
Deforestation is probably the best-known form of land degradation. It leads many species to leave their habitats for more urban areas.

Climate Change
Climate change is very real and very dangerous. It changes the conditions that an animal is used to, so it may want to move, or do things like hibernate or migrate to soon or late.

Disease & Stress
In an interview, Reg Hoyt, a professor at Delaware University, discussed how lyme disease is becoming more common because of white-footed mice coming into more contact with humans. Learn more under 'Fragmentation'

Real people and their opinions.
In an interview with Reg Hoyt of Delaware University I asked what could happen if we don't do anything for 5 - 10 years. He explained that we're at a tipping point for three major systems: The climate, biodiversity, and the loss of habitats. Looking at a larger period of time it could end up causing something of an ice age caused by the gulf stream stopping. He gave the statistic that the US equates to 5% of the population on the planet, but 25% of the resources.
